A brief idea about what you will
be doing as project work is discussed below.
Your assignment is to code a serial transmitter and a serial receiver that follows a particular protocol. The protocol specification, signal descriptions and the testing method (test bench) will be provided to you by the instructor. I have decided to call the complete design as “Transceiver Macrocell Interface”. The design is essentially a parallel-to-serial converter and a serial-to-parallel converter. In your project work, you will put together design units like shift registers, counters, flip-flops, combinational logic and state-machines that you learnt by doing individual labs.
