THE STUDENT WILL BE PENALISED HEAVILY IN CASE OF CHEATING IN ANY FORM. IT IS UNDER THE DISCRETION OF THE PROFESSOR AND ASU TO IMPOSE ANY ACTION UNDER SUCH A CIRCUMSTANCE OF MISCONDUCT.
Academic dishonesty is a completely unacceptable mode of conduct and will
not be tolerated in any form. All persons involved in academic dishonesty will be
disciplined in accordance with the University procedures and regulations.
Discipline may include suspension or even expulsion from the University.
“Scholastic dishonesty includes but not limited to cheating, plagiarism,
collusion, the submission for credit of any work that are attributable in whole
or part to another person, taking an examination for another person, any act
designed to give unfair advantage to a student or the attempt to commit such
acts”
· Cheat:
Deceive, defraud, violate rules, act dishonestly
· Plagiarize:
To use or pass off as one’s own, the work of others.
· Collusion:
Agreement by 2 or more people for a deceitful purpose
Examples of Academic Dishonesty:
· Looking
at another person’s paper during an exam
· Referring
to hidden or written material in a closed book exam
· Discussing
questions or answers with another person during an exam
· Asking
instructor for opinion on student’s answer prior to turning in exam
Examples of acceptable behavior
· Discussing
general approaches (not details) to lab work before turning it in
· Discussing
an exam after turning it in, outside the classroom
