| The Clumber is a
flushing spaniel. It was developed to penetrate thick
and thorny cover that was inaccessible to lighter, faster
spaniel breeds. The Clumber is the largest of the
spaniels; dogs stand 18 to 20 inches at the withers (46 to
51 cm) and weigh 70 to 85 pounds (32 to 39 kg).
Bitches are a little smaller, standing 17 to 19 inches (43
to 48 cm) and weighing 55 to 70 pounds (25 to 32 kg).
Clumbers tend to be easy going and adaptable; they are often
reserved with strangers but affectionate with those they
know. |
